Answering portals, explained
To address any concerns or curiosities you might have, here are answers to some frequently asked questions about Inventive:
Does the extension run automatically in the background?
No. It's a lightweight Chrome extension you turn on with one click when you're on a portal page that needs answering. It doesn't run passively, and it doesn't access pages you haven't opened it on.
What portals does the extension work with?
Ariba, ServiceNow, and most vendor-built and custom questionnaire portals, from simple document uploaders to complex multi-page systems.
Does the extension store our portal login?
No. Only the teammate who opens the portal needs to authenticate. The extracted questionnaire is saved to an Inventive project, where the rest of your team can review and approve without ever touching the portal directly.
How does it handle multi-page or cascading questions?
It follows the portal as new questions appear, including ones that only show up after an earlier answer, instead of stopping after the first page.
Will it warn me if an answer is too long for the portal’s character limit?
Yes. Character-limit alerts flag answers that would get cut off before you submit, not after.
Do my teammates need the portal login to help answer?
No. Once the questionnaire is saved to a project, anyone with project access can review, edit, and approve answers without the portal password.
What happens after I submit — does anything sync back to the Knowledge Hub?

Is this different from just answering the portal manually and pasting in AI-drafted text?
Yes. Manual copy-paste means someone still needs the login for every answer, and characters limits and cascading questions get caught by hand, if at all. The extension drafts and checks in place, and lets the rest of your team work without portal access.
Is our data used to train AI models?
No. Customer data is not shared with third parties, and Inventive is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
